Get ready, snap! So Snapchat has reinvented their identity to Snap Inc. With this new name they have also introduced a new product that will greatly increase their reach. The new "Spectacles"! This innovative product has the capabilities of recording up to 10 seconds, so a full Snapchat frame. The glasses sync to your phone via wifi or bluetooth and either upload to your phone directly, or if not around, will be saved to your glasses and uploaded later. Very neat. In order to keep with with the fashion industry, Snap Inc. brings to you orange, blue and black. They have a very sleek frame and round eye holes. You could say, "these are trendy af."
Personally, I think the glasses, as a function, are super practical. They also give off a super-secret-spy-esque feel to them. I mean, like all super-secret-spies, you can now casually be walking the street and record anything at any time (up to 10 seconds). Watch out FBI, we're looking back now! In terms of form, when Tim Martin from Marketing Land's girlfriend was asked if she would wear them out and about, she responded, "No, because I think they are ugly." I agree with her. Even though the glasses have that trendy-af look, Snap Inc. isn't fooling anyone with their obviously trademarked yellow circles around the camera and record-recognition light.
Since the glasses are agreeably ugly, we'll just stick to function. After watching Keaton from TechSmartt's unboxing, he discovered that the case of the glasses charges the glasses! His example was, "Let's say you're getting made of fun of, or the bullies try to *initiates punching* steal you glasses, you can throw them in the case." Now, I would of gone with fending off zombie-alien invaders and my battery is running low but need to charge because, if I don't record the battle, then it's not real. So this chargeable box is definitely going to be crowd pleaser. Hopefully this product does not become a thing of the past like Google Glasses.
