So things have been going well. The grind is unbelievable. With balancing 2 jobs, it hard to believe I can get any work done. I spend countless hours after work at the local coffee shop producing as much material as I can. In saying that, the hard work is paying off (as it always does). I'm beginning to get some traction with my Cystic Fibrosis research. If you read the last post, and I recommend you do so this is relevant, I have moved on from the Pantone collaboration and have broadened my horizon to something a little more palpable; that is Nike as a client, promoting their awards system.
The reason I chose to hypothetically take on Nike with this project is because they have this beautiful platform called Nike Plus, their running app. Using their application, you have the possibility to raise awareness by using their rewards system. Nike Plus offers trophies for running on certain days, amount of miles, times you run, et cetera. What I'm doing is creating trophies designated towards CF awareness. By running at CF-related events, you earn trophies depending on if you attended 1,5 or 10 events. The catch-all, for all consumers who do not wish to attend events or who are unaware, is the opportunity to be awarded a trophy simply for running during the month of May, CF Awareness Month. This creates a phenomenon during the entire month of May for all Nike Plus user.
Now, I offered this same idea to a creative genius at a prestigious advertising agency and he tooootally shot me down. However, I LOVED IT! Every time I approach him with an idea he only provokes me to try harder. He saw this idea as an umbrella idea and not the big idea. I agree with him. From this point on I've conducted a qualitative study to gain more insight, thus potentially reaching that big idea.
